With a rich history almost as old as the town it was founded in, Alexander Lumber has provided over 130 years’ worth of expertise and service to the Owatonna community.

Embracing technology, the business had one of the first delivery vehicles and one of Owatonna’s first telephone lines. In fact, their first phone number was 61. Their first delivery vehicle has since been restored and donated to the Steele County Historical Society.

In 2021, Alexander Lumber remains in the very same location that it was founded on back in 1883. The storefront is full of memorabilia, photographs, and history. Another thing that remains the same is Alexander Lumber’s commitment to service and providing customers with the best products in the business. The same mindset of sustainability and advancement that Alexander Lumber was founded on lives today with their new solar energy system. Their 136 roof panels generate over 50 megawatts of solar power annually. Since the system was installed in 2018, it has saved over 140,000 lbs of CO2 emissions which is the equivalent of planting over 1,000 trees!
