The Chamber Foundation will administer the fund and reimburse wages for participating employers. Placements will focus on high-demand industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, skilled trades, and technology. Students will be recruited through partnerships with Owatonna, Medford, and Blooming Prairie High Schools and Workforce Development Inc., while employers will provide structured, skill-based experiences.
Each business can access up to $15/hour for up to 160 hours to help cover cost of a high school student gaining work experience at their business. The business gets some help and help a student learn about a possible career.
The grants are made possible through seed money from the Sharon & Harvey West Foundation, CLA Foundation, Chamber Ambassadors, and the Profinium Non-Profit Giveback program.
