Jerry Deuschle--My wife Kathy and I both own and operate a home-based studio and art gallery. As artists, it is our goal to offer fine art for everyone’s budget and style. Our gallery features a variety of art that will make great gifts for every occasion from different artists. We also offer classes and events you may want to explore. Classes are offered on the wheel as well as hand building. Our objective is to give everyone a chance to have fine art in their life. Featured in this show are some of my clay pieces.
Marcedes “Marcie” Hyuanga--I grew up on a farm southeast of Waseca, the oldest of seven siblings. Farm life taught me a deep appreciation for nature and wildlife. My mother was an artist in the garden, the kitchen, and in later years as a porcelain painter. When my children were quite young, I painted Tole or decorative oil on wood; such as clocks, plaques, desks, chairs, etc. I quit painting sometime around 1985. In 2017, I moved back to Minnesota, after a nine year stay in South Florida. That Christmas my grandsons gave me money to purchase materials and restart my art.
Covid was the perfect opportunity to spend time learning how to use oil on canvas. I watched and attempted to recreate many of the Bob Ross masterpieces. While I will never be able to paint like Mr. Ross, I have adapted many of his techniques as my own. He taught me about color, composition and brushes, etc. The type of art that most interests me is realistic. I quickly learned that my impatience and inability to memorize details hinder my results for realism. Since then my art has improved because of persistence and adaptation to my own personal style.
One of the ways that I learned to adapt my art was to learn what I could about watercolor. While I will always love oil, watercolor has become my new favorite medium, if for no other reason that I can get quicker results. Thanks to YouTube, I learned even more about color, limited palette, techniques, etc. from people like Louise DeMasi, Anna Bucciarelli, Aquilla (her painting name), Color by Feliks, and a host of others.
Now that I’m fully retired (again), art is my favorite pastime and a way to keep my hands and mind occupied striving every time to get a little bit better. I hope my pictures bring a smile, possibly a memory, and maybe even the courage to give art a try yourself.
Gallery hours are 1-5 pm, Tuesday through Sunday.
