This annual celebration reflects on the year’s successes, recognizes outstanding volunteers and looks ahead to the next year’s plan of action.
With 225 attendees, the Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism hosted our Annual Dinner at the Owatonna Country Club on Friday, January 17, 2020.
The stage is set for another incredible year in 2020 with the growth and expansion of our existing businesses, new businesses coming to the community, and the celebration of a new high school. We brought together business leaders to recognize the accomplishments of community and business leaders, heard from the leadership of expanding and new businesses of the Owatonna Area, and reflected on the vision for our future.
Outgoing chair of the board Andy Cowell -Owatonna President Profinium- recognized the outgoing board members; Graham Frie-Mayo Clinic Health System-Owatonna, Brian Speas-Fareway Meat and Grocery, Pat McDermott-JC Press, a division of Wallace Carlson, and Kim Schaufenbuel-United Way of Steele County. He also highlighted 2019 accomplishments of Developing Talent, Tourism, Strengthing the Economy, and Restoring the Core. We also recognized an outstanding Ambassador, Kaye Fransen, with the 2019 Starman Ambassador of the Year Award!
The Annual Dinner was also a ‘kick-off’ party for the Twin Cities Business Magazine January 2020 publication featuring an article of all the big things going on here in Owatonna! Read the online version of the article here or stop by the Chamber office to pick up your very own copy.
We introduced New Board Chair, Nathan Dotson-owner of Dotson Woodworking, who spoke about the plans for the upcoming year including; Develop Talent, Restore the Core, Strengthen Economy, and Attract Tourism. He introduced the new members of our Board of Directors; Doug Betti-Viracon, Deb Gillard-RE/MAX Venture, Mike Herman-Driessen Water Inc., and Scott Mohs-MOHs Contracting, Inc.
Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism President, Brad Meier, lead a discussion with founder and CEO of Rise Modular, Christian Lawrence, about Rise Modular’s new venture in Owatonna. Watch the video of the discussion here.
